There is so much good stuff in today’s recommended music, from sublime Brahms to great rock from Feeder. Enjoy!
- Johannes Brahms, Symphony no. 4. This symphony is simply stunning, and I’d forgotten how great it was until I put it on last night (it’s going to be one of my examples for our Symphony topic in finals). I haven’t compared many versions, but the Simon Rattle/Berlin Philharmonic version seems very good to me, although I know some critics have taken issue with the tempos.
- Camille Saint-Saëns, Clarinet Sonata in E-flat major. An essential part of the clarinet repertoire, and for good reason – a great piece full of character and very fun (although fiddly) to play.
- Eric Whitacre, Sleep
- Duke Ellington & His Orchestra, Take The ‘A’ Train
- Feeder, Buck Rogers & Seven Days in the Sun. Just great, simple, tracks.
